2009 Venez partager notre expérience à la Tufts University et partons à la découverte de l'Amérique. Each year the association "Les amis du prieuré de Talloires" gives 2 scholarships to students from Lachenal's prep school. Each scholarship in the amount of 4000$ to pay the university.After a selection by covering letter and franco-english maintaining motivation we have chosen with Pierre.At last we have done the steps to obtain our visa ( thank to Mme Rindborg these steps were easier ).We are ready now. 2008 Les States nous voilà !! Un blog pour donner envie à tous de partir dans un campus américain !! Chaque année, l'association les amis du prieuré de Talloires en partenariat avec une célèbre université américaine "Tufts university" organise un "petit concours" pour attribuer une bourse ( cet année 3450 $ soit environ 2150 € quand même ! ) à deux étudiants du bassin annécien qui auront la chance de vivre un mois sur le campus de Tufts. Et cette année, après des épreuves très disputées, telles que la lettre de motivation puis un terrible entretien franco-anglais, et une énorme montée d'adrénaline à l'annonce des résultats, Jérome et moi (yannick) ont décroché la super récompense ! Fernand Bise

Members of the MacJannet Foundation are saddened to learn of the recent death of Fernand Bise, after a brief illness. The funeral took place on Tuesday, August 4, 2009. Both Fernand Bise and his father maintained a friendship with the camp director, Col. Woodworth, as well as the MacJannets. Fernand’s was a camper at the MacJannet camp at Angon in 1937 and 1938. When Fernand’s father decided to start his own restaurant “Le Cottage” instead of working in the family business at Pere Bise, the MacJannets actively championed Le Cottage and introduced generations of families to Le Cottage which continues to be a favorite venue for Foundation events. Fernand once told me that during WWII, when Col Woodworth was in active service in the military directing the US air force effort from northern Italy, Col Woodworth established both Le Cottage and Pere Bise as R&R sites for American pilots and provided abundant supplies that were in great need in the area. These photos were taken in 2003 while Fernand related the story of his frienship with Col Woodworth and his visit at Talloires to arrange for Le Cottage and Pere Bise to serve as R&R - USO sites.

Over 700 Photos at Tufts site "The MacJannet Legacy"

6/24/2009 Tufts University library maintains an internet site that has over 700 MacJannet historic photos plus actual audio recordings of the MacJannets commenting on various topics.

MacJannet Social Network Expands

6/23/2009 We now have 36 members on our MacJannet Foundation and Friends group on LinkedIn. We have 16 members on our MacJannet Community Group on Facebook and we have finally set up the official MacJannet Foundation Facebook Page which will carry blog posts from this blog and host a repository of photo albums. Why do we need all these social network sites? Actually, they each have different advantages. LinkedIn already has information on each member's occupation, education and background and that is probably the only place where people update that information. The Facebook Group called "MacJannet Community" is best for informal postings and snap shots. Anyone can post information there. The MacJannet Foundation Facebook 'Page" is information posted by the Foundation and a permanent collection of photo albums.

MacJannet Social Network- Day 1 after launch

Twelve hours after the launch of the MacJannet Social Network we already have 18 members-- 4 on Facebook where photos and chat appear, 6 on LinkedIn which features official notices, news items, professional news contributed by members and background information on group members, and 8 on Twitter which provides brief status information on new MacJannet activity and status information contributed by users.

The MacJannet Foundation is now on Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, http://www.macjannet.org/, this blog, and email. The website includes a repository of relatively permanent information. This blog explains new developments of interest to the MacJannet Community- (some portions of which may be included in the website). The blog also receives feeds of news developments or other blogs about the MacJannet community. Facebook is social network where community members may share photos, video and discussion of an informal nature. LinkedIn includes the background information of those Members already on LinkedIn as well as news of interest and members post in the Discussions- how they campe to know the MacJannet Foundation. Twitter provides brief status updates on new material that has been added to the various sites. If you have any suggestions please note them in this blog or email george.halsey@macjannet.org.

Elected Trustee Class of 2012: Bruce Berzin, Willard Snyder, Wenke Thoman Sterns and Robert-Jan Smits.

Elected Officers: President- Tony Cook, Treasurer - Bruce Berzin, Assistant Treasurer - George Halsey, Secretary - George Halsey, Executive Director - George Halsey, Vice President- Programs - John King, Vice President Europe- Jean-Marie Herve, Vice President Development, Wenke Thoman Sterns

Elected New Overseers: Jean-Michel Fouquet and Elizabeth Rindborg

Deferred Grants Voting to October meeting to take place in York Harbor Maine. Date not yet confirmed.

Amended by laws to use a 3 years rolling average of previous 3 December 31 corpus values to determine the 5% total grant amount.

Launched the first MacJannet Prizes and achieved the required funding for 2009 (Much more about this to come).

Tentatively scheduled the 2010 annual meeting for June 11-13 2010
